Disable of Whatsapp Blue Ticks New Feature: As it was Intruding People’s Personal Space

As all of you have gone through the articles and might have discovered that last week, Whatsapp popularized a new feature where two Blue Ticks confirmed that the Whatsapp message has been read by the recipient. Today, the same app has added a new option that allows the users to disable the feature. Though, being a great option, the blue ticks option didn’t work well and didn’t get accepted in the chat community. This gave a negative impact on some people as their privacy was directly invaded. Thinking that this feature was intruding in many people’s personal space, Whatsapp finally rolled out an option to disable the read receipts.

Preceding the update, users could view last seen timings of the recipient along with the message sent as well as the tick marks confirming the delivery of the message. This updated version of Whatsapp lets you deactivate this new feature under the privacy section of your setting menu. This new version is in Beta stage and is available only for Androd, but it is expected to become functional for iOS and Windows very soon. For all Android users, after updating your Whatsapp, you simply have to go into the setting from upper right menu option, where you will find this new option to turn off blue ticks under Settings>Accounts>Privacy Settings and disable it. By performing this, one will no longer observe the blue ticks when they view their received messages.

The officially released new updated app (version 2.11.444) by Whatsapp has still not reached among the public completely  and are making access via their official website.

If you don’t want to wait for the official release on PlayStore and want the feature immediately, you can download the Watsapp update from WhatsApp.com website directly.

  • Go to the setting menu and enable ‘Download from Unknown Sources’ in the Security tab.
  • Simply download the apk file to your computer.
  • Transfer the file to the SD card of your smartphone.
