The Truth about New Year Resolutions!

Yes, we all make New Year Resolutions and it is kind of an annual ritual every year. Right from trying to lose weight to bulking up to eating and drinking less to quitting smoking to being more productive to finally take up a new hobby…you get the picture right?

What you must already be knowing is that most people do not stick to their New Year resolutions and hence it has spawned the running joke- New Year Resolutions are meant to be broken anyway but making them still feels so much better right? This year too, when you’re feeling wistful, sad at the midnight carousing coming to an end and looking at life through stimulant (generously) laced eyes, you will again pull out that notepad and jot down some of what you wish to change about your life in the year ahead.

However, the moment you wake up in the morning on New Year’s Day and prepare to take the fresh start head-on, the notepad just lies there, only to be seen sometimes amid laments of how you still cannot find time. Of course, there may be a few stray attempts at keeping a few of the resolutions but these just fade away with the passage of time.

Want the truth about New Year resolutions?

They’re anyway passé!

This year, instead of jotting down resolutions to make your life better, try thinking of ways and means by which you can make the lives of others better. You’ll soon find that sticking to these things will be more fun and easier! Your emotional quotient and happiness will improve in the bargain and you will find that by spreading so much happiness and love, you will start getting some back yourself! This will make things happen in life and you will never believe your luck! Sounds impossible? Try it!

This year, get off your bum and go help that old granny next door with her reading, go out and distribute food and clothes to the kids in slums near your neighborhood (god knows they deserve it), do something nice for your siblings, help out your friends in whichever way possible and most importantly, make your parents and beloved feel special in equal measure. Let New Year’s Day be the starting point of a new resolution- Doing things for others and making them happy.

We’re sure it will be the best resolution you ever had!
