Facebook Policy Update
To get an edge over with the domestic violence, the National Network has conjointly teamed up with Facebook to create Safety and Privacy on Facebook.
Again, Facebook has taken a long leap to simplify its lengthy privacy policy and make it much shorter to all 1.35 billion users. Till November 20, users are having seven days to comment on the new policy and the final version will get effective after that. The new policy ensures that if people make purchase through Facebook, their credit card information will be collected. On the other hand, the Facebook location information might include the place where you have taken photo that you share on the site, or the location of your mobile devices using Bluetooth or WiFi signals. On Thursday, Facebook modernize its privacy policy introducing a feature called “Privacy Basics” and giving UK based users more control over adverts.
The ad preference tool is available in countries of Canada, Australia, Ireland, Germany, UK and France. The Privacy Basics is described as a feature that offers an easy to understand steps on how to keep information safe. It is an animated guide to control what other see about you and how others can interact with you. This guide offers interactive guidelines to answer the most commonly asked question and how could you maintain privacy of your information on Facebook. You can learn about unfriending, untagging, blocking and how to choose an audience for your posts.
All these information will be available in 36 languages.The new policy includes questions like “What kind of information do we collect? And how can I manage and delete information about me? The answers to those questions are available in bulleted form. The update also includes on how Facebook uses payment data, credit card data, account authentication information, shipping, billing and contact information.
The guide within Facebook, as well as safety tips and other valuable options will help you to address when someone is misusing the site to monitor, harass, threaten or stalk. The first version of the guide was released in 2013 and was updated in September 2014. Getting off the social media doesn’t guarantee any level of safety or privacy. But survivors shouldn’t have to worry about their safety when they want to connect with their friends and families.
After the final review, Facebook will release a final version that will be effective from next month onward.
