Winning big when it comes to wagering at a casino, whether online or in-person, is one of the most exciting things that can happen to you when you wager your money.
So many stories from stalwart casino players will tell you about the big wins, but few will tell you about how many times they have lost.
In this article, whichcasino.com takes a look at some of the biggest casino wins ever, and how much they were able to win.
5) Jon Heywood – $18 million
Most players will stake a decent amount of money in their time gambling and not ever really come back with anything of note. This is not something that Jon Heywood will ever have to worry about after he put down 30 cents and won $18 million back in October 2015. Betting on Betway’s Mega Moolah jackpot, Heywood broke the world record at the time. Incredibly, he reportedly went to work the very next day.
4) ‘Belgian Player’ – $22 million
Back in April of 2021, playing at Napoleon Sports and Casino, a person known as ‘Belgian Player’ was able to smash a world record as they took a ridiculous $22 million from a $17 stake on a single spin. The game itself was provided by Microgaming, with the gaming company making a number of players millionaires across 2020.
3) Kerry Packer – $26 million
Kerry Packer is someone that has been able to turn being a very successful businessman and a very fortunate gambler into mega earnings. Back in 1995, Packer enjoyed an exceptional winning streak at the famous MGM Grand, which saw him seize a $26 million jackpot in a matter of hours. Playing blackjack and baccarat, Packer was putting down $500,000 bets as if they were mere dollar wagers. It was an incredible winning streak from Packer and one that has seen him go down in history as one of the most successful casino gamblers ever.
2) ‘American Software Engineer’ – $38.7 million
Wishing to remain anonymous, this person scored a $38.7 million jackpot back in March 2003. This person’s win was at the Excalibur Hotel Casino, with it reported that they put three $1 coins into the ‘Megabucks Jackpot’ machine – the luck of some people, right? According to reports, this person was just looking to enjoy a weekend in Las Vegas during March Madness alongside some casino games. Newspaper reports suggest they would have to be drip fed the winnings over the course of 25 years as is protocol but, if the $38.7 million was split evenly over 25 years, this person would receive $1.55 million a year, which isn’t a yearly salary many would turn their noses up at.
1) Archie Karas – $40 million
Archie Karas is a Greek-American who made it big through a string of exceptional wins. The $40 million he won from casinos in Las Vegas took him three years to amalgamate between 1992-95, with his winning streak known by most as ‘The Run’. However, despite his impressive casino winnings, Karas reportedly struggled with some charges for running casino scams. Despite these woes, Karas will still go down as one of the most successful gamblers in the history of casino betting.
