As children, almost all of us have heard many haunted house stories and ghost stories – but these are just stories. There are oodles of occurrences that involve paranormal and have been reported for years.
These places can make your skin crawl, induce paranoia and heavy breathing. Unveiling the mystery of unknown is always fascinating to human mind. If you are one of those who love to dig the hidden secrets or word ‘supernatural’ gives you adrenalin rush, then here’s list of mysterious and haunted places around the world:
1. Hunedoara (Hunyad) Castle, Transylvania
Over 13 storey’s high, Hunyad castle is intimidating construction where disturbing events took place. At the entrance of castle, there is well which is 30 meter deep. This well was dug by 12 Turkish prisoners to whom liberty was promised if they reach water. After 15 years, when they reached the water, captors didn’t keep their promise and beheaded them.
It is also the castle where legendary warlord Vladimir learned his cruel hobby. He impaled thousands of people in the castle to harness the power of evil but was imprisoned by Janos Hunyadi. Even in prison he impaled the rats and drink blood.
2. Waverly Hills Sanitorium, Kentucky, United States
It was two-storey wooden building that was opened in 1910 and more storeys were constructed in 1926. In mid 20th century, it was tuberculosis hospital when a disease was at its worst. It is said that 63,000 patients died there due to mistreatment or experimental procedures on patients. Over the years, many people investigated the premises. With the help of thermal imaging camera, TAPS captured a figure which was 3ft tall and walking across the hall. It was later found that it was ghost of young boy named Tim.
3. Ancient Ram Inn, England
Built in 1145, it is most haunted house in the entire British Isles. The stories of devil worship, child sacrifices and evil spirits are reasons behind various happening in this house. This Inn is built on the intersection of 2 ley lines which is believed to be a conductor of spiritual activity. Apart from this, it is said that an ancient Pagan burial ground is resided in the property over 5000 years ago.
The current owner of the house – John, has said that in 1968, on his first night in the house, he felt someone grabbed his arm and dragged out of bed. He has also found evidence of ritual sacrifice and devil worship.
4. Island of the Dolls, Mexico
Located on Lake Teshuilo near Mexico City, this is strangest haunted location. In 1920, three young girls were playing near water when one of the girls fell in and drowned in; her spirit is there on island. In 1950, a man – Julian Santan Barrera moved to the island. He was unaware of the history of area when he moved there. The spirit of this young girl started talking to him and told him how she died. He started purchasing old dolls for this girl. As the time passed, Julian told his nephew that it is difficult to quench girls thirst for dolls and she wanted him to join her. The same day he was found dead in the very river where girl’s body was found.
5. Takakanonuma Amusement Park, Japan
Built in 1973, the park was opened for two years only after its construction. It was rumored, but never officially confirmed, that park was closed due to number of deaths inside the park. Park was repaired and opened in 1986 but opened for 1 year only. It was said that the reason behind its closing was again mysterious deaths.
