When experiencing a headache some people tend to think the worst and it is not a wild thought to think of it as a brain tumor. Headaches are a good indicator of underlying sickness that may have, manifested now. A headache is rather a primary symptom of medical headache disorder like a migraine or tension headaches, rather than the suspected brain tumors. However, it is not wise to completely rule it out as it may be symptomatic of a larger issue.
The two major types of headaches are:
- Primary headaches which include cluster headaches, migraines, and tension headaches.
- Secondary Headaches are caused by underlying dormant factors such as medical conditions.
Both kinds of headaches are common among cancer patients and even treatments such as chemotherapy, radiation therapy, and immunotherapy have been known to cause headaches.
Headaches can cause sleepless nights that adds to the already high-stress level. It can also be associated with the changes in sleeping position. Another red flag is the accompaniment of other symptoms such as weight loss. Some headaches are relieved through over the counter generic medicines like disprin or by having a cup of something stimulating like coffee or tea. But if a headache still persists and does not go away like it usually does then it is a cause for concern. This is a good enough reason to go to your nearest doctor.
If a headache goes on persistently for a couple of weeks or so without any significant improvements or is associated with a neurological symptom, such as weakness of the body on one side, thus it is of utmost importance to see a physician. Headaches that were not a common occurrence before and/or are worsening with time in a person that doesn’t experience headaches may need a medical follow up. It may also help to note when the severity of a headache is max like in the morning or while laying down. Potentially these headaches can disturb sleep patterns and also induce nausea and vomiting. Other red flag symptoms include:
- Change in severity or quality of the headaches, with the addition of blurred/double vision or vision loss
- Increasing pressure in the back of the head
The most common and eminent symptoms of brain cancer are:
- Persistent room spinning, dizziness, or loss of balance
- A seizure or loss of ability to speak
- Hearing problems
- Personality changes such as emotional withdrawal or anger, or becoming easily confused

There are many hospitals that aim to bring the best healthcare available to people. The brain tumor treatment cost is one of the main concerns and the best hospitals make sure to be as accommodating as possible.
