Twitter is going to give you a Thanks giving surprise for your smart phones. On Wednesday, the company has announced a new feature, called “App Graph”. This will give twitter information about, what other apps you have installed in your mobile devices. The primary goal is to deliver tailored content that you will definitely like it.It will be joining the “graph” bandwagon announcing that it will soon start on looking on other apps that you have installed in your phone in order to build more personalized experience. According to Twitter, “It will serve you with more tailored experience that includes, “who to follow” suggestions, promoted contents, relevant tweets as well as other contents.
In order to help tailor your experience, twitter uses the apps on your device only when the feature is turned on. If you have already turned on “Limit Ad Tracking” on your iOS phone or have set your Android phone to “Opt out of interest based ads” this feature will automatically be turned off.
For example, on iOS, developers can ping user’s device at any time and can recollect a list of apps that are currently functional on their smartphone. If they ping the device, the developer could piece together a user’s entire app library.
On Android, the developer can recall a list of app on phone as long as they reveal their ability to do so within the app’s terms of service.
The “personalization” (read: targeting) approach will likely help Twitter to serve its advertisers in better way. Users have also the privilege to pause the data collection at any time from their phone settings.
