Having silky and shiny hair is a dream of many women which rarely sees the light of the day. Blame it on the stress, poor nutrition, hormonal imbalances, styling products, and what not, the fact is it’s sickening and feels awful to see falling chunks of hair everywhere.

In an attempt to stop hair fall and grow new hair we resort to diverse medical and styling methods that make us oblivious to the natural remedies of hair growth. Yoga, one of the most effective healers of many problems and the ultimate guide to a strong body and mind is exceptionally beneficial for hair growth.

Undertake the practice of these five yoga asanas for hair growth and become the prime witness to the results.

1. Downward Facing Dog Position (Adho Mukha Svanasana):

Come on your fours. Align your hands under the shoulder blades and knees underneath the posterior. Curl your toes under and spread your fingers. Lift the knees off the mat and elevate your hips up towards the sky. Stretch your legs to form an inverted “V” with your body. Keep your arms extended in the front. Look at the navel and hold this pose for 30 seconds.

2. Shoulder Stand (Sarvangasana):

Lie on your back on a yoga mat. Lay the arms on the ground alongside your torso. Fold the knees and press down your hands into the yoga mat. Push your feet above the mat and bring your thighs close to your torso. Continue lifting the legs up and extend it straight upwards. Rest the palms on your back with elbows shoulder-width apart. Hold this pose for 20-30 seconds.

3. Head Stand (Sirsasana):

Kneel on a yoga mat, set your forearms on the ground, and interlock your fingers. Place the crown of the head against the hands. Push the feet up above the yoga mat and gently begin to straighten the legs. Continue to do this until your body falls into a straight line with heels hanging up. Breathe slowly and deeply. Stay in this pose for 20-30 seconds.

4. Camel Pose (Ustrasana):

Begin in a tabletop position. Keep your spine erect and knees-hip-distance apart. Press the top of the feet into the floor. Place the hands on the back of the pelvis area. Lean back and slightly tuck your chin towards the chest. If you are comfortable then you can grab the heels with your palms. Remain in this pose for 30 seconds.

5. Wide Angle Forward Bend (Prasarita Padottanasana):

Stand upright on a yoga mat. Widen your legs 3-4 inches broad. Inhale, lift your chest and make your torso longer than your back. Exhale, keep the spine straight and lean forward from the hips. Extend your elbows fully and locate the palms on the ground. If possible rest the top of the head on the floor. Hold this pose for 30 seconds.
