Melbourne is one of Australia’s most diverse and beautiful cities. It is a great place to visit. The city has a diverse culture that can be seen in its festivals, food, music, and architecture. Melbourne Arts Festival

First, let’s start with the obvious, but one that still crops up when people talk about Melbourne: The Melbourne Arts Festival. Every year the festival brings together some of the country’s finest artists and some of the most prestigious arts organizations in the country. In addition to the arts festival, Melbourne is home to a number of internationally renowned festivals including The Melbourne Cup Carnival, Melbourne international comedy festival, Melbourne international Film festival amongst a host of others.

Check out the street art

Melbourne is known as the arts capital of Australia. You only have to walk around the inner-city streets to see how evident it is. Melbourne is famous for its street art. Many of Melbourne’s laneways are covered in unique and funky street art. Croft Alley, ACDC street, and Duckboard place are among some of the popular streets.

Drink a Coffee

If you’re a coffee snob, you’ll feel right at home in Melbourne. The standard of coffee in Melbourne is amongst the best in the world. It’s really not hard to get an amazing cup of coffee. Try out some of the funky laneway cafes etched away in a corner, but don’t let that fool you, many of these establishments serve amazing coffee and have some really great breakfast/café food at a very reasonable price.

Chill out on a beach

There are ample beaches to relax and cool down on a hot summers’ day. Some of the popular beaches are St Kilda, Brighton, and Elwood, however; there’s no shortage of beaches in greater Melbourne. If you’re after something more adventurous, as in actual rideable waves for surfing or bodyboarding then you’ll need to head down to the Geelong area or down to the Mornington Peninsula to catch a wave. Some good places to surf on the Mornington Peninsula are Gunnamatta beach, Sorrento back beach, or Point Leo for beginners.

Shopping

If you love shopping, a day trip to the Chadstone Shopping Centre might be a good idea. Chadstone is the largest shopping mall in the southern hemisphere, so it’s almost guaranteed that you’ll be able to find what you’re looking for here. You can also take a day trip to the Bourke St Mall, which is a popular inner-city shopping spot. Another option would be to head to the Melbourne emporium which has many of the same retailers as Chadstone but is closer to the city so if you don’t have time to head out to Chadstone then this may be a good alternative.

Melbourne Zoo

What can be better than a day trip to the Melbourne Zoo? Get coffee from a cafe near the zoo, take a walking tour around the zoo, and see the different species of animals. If you’re into animals, then the Melbourne Zoo is a must-visit place. It’s not only a zoo but also an educational facility where you can learn a lot about animals. You can also have a hands-on experience of their conservation program. If you’re really eager to learn all about the animals in the park you can book a tour with one of the Zoo’s guides.

Explore the Nightlife

While in the city, you should take a trip to the King Street entertainment district. This is a popular nightlife area, where you can party all night long. There are bars, restaurants, dance clubs, and karaoke clubs. Some of the more popular bars and restaurants in the area include the New Guernica, Tippo 00, Beneath Driver Lane, Rooftop Bar, and more.

History and Culture
