Like most people, you probably have a cup of coffee first thing in the morning and occasionally throughout the day. You may not even think about it, but there are different methods for making that caffeinated beverage. You can have your coffee beans, or you can have your instant coffee. Which one is better? Coffee beans are the original way to make a cup of Joe, while instant coffee is the newer version of this beverage. Both have their advantages and disadvantages. However, if you want to get more out of your daily caffeine intake, you should pick up some coffee beans instead of instant stuff. Here are five reasons why coffee beans are better than instant coffee.

Coffee Beans Have More Flavor

When you buy coffee beans and brew them fresh, you will get a lot more flavor than if you buy pre-ground coffee or an instant coffee mix. With a fresh-roasted coffee bean, you can control the flavor to your liking by choosing the type of bean and the roasting time. When you buy pre-ground coffee, you are getting roasted coffee, and that flavor may taste a bit stale. If you buy instant coffee, you’re getting a coffee bean that has been roasted, ground, and then dehydrated. This process strips the coffee beans of a lot of their flavor. That’s why instant coffee is often flavored with artificial flavorings.

Coffee Beans Are Better For the Environment

When you buy coffee beans, you are buying a completely biodegradable product. When you buy pre-ground coffee, you often get coffee that has been sitting on a shelf for a long time. If you buy coffee like this and don’t drink it all, you may throw it away and fill up a landfill with coffee grounds. When you buy instant coffee, it’s usually in a paper or foil packet. While this may be biodegradable, it’s not as good for the environment as coffee beans are.

Instant Coffee Has Additives You Should Be Wary Of

Some instant coffee mixes are made with artificial flavors and additives that you may not want to put into your body. If you have health concerns, you may want to avoid these instant coffees. One of the additives in some instant coffees is dairy products. While a little dairy product won’t hurt you, it may not be something you want to put into your body. If you have health concerns, you may want to avoid instant coffee and use coffee beans instead.

Coffee Beans Are More Cost-Effective

You can get more than 50 cups from one pound of coffee beans. However, you would get the same amount of ground coffee from brewing up a pound of instant coffee. If you drink more than one cup of coffee daily, you will save money by buying coffee beans instead of instant coffee. When you buy instant coffee, you have to keep in mind that you are also paying for the water used to brew it and the packaging. A packet of premium specialty coffee beans goes for $60. You are paying for the coffee beans themselves when you buy them.

Coffee Beans Take Less Time to Make

If you want to have a hot cup of coffee, you have to brew the coffee beans. Add hot water to the mix and stir if you want a cup of instant coffee. You can have a cup of instant coffee almost instantly. While you can make a cup of hot coffee on the spot if you have coffee beans, it takes a little time.

Coffee beans are better than instant coffee for several reasons. When you brew coffee beans, you get more flavor and caffeine than instant coffee. Coffee beans are also better for the environment because you can compost them when you’re done. One disadvantage of brewing your coffee from coffee beans is that it takes a bit more time. However, it’s worth the wait if you want a great cup of coffee! If you’re a caffeine addict, it’s worth looking into the different types of coffee you can purchase. You may find that coffee beans are the way to go.
