Google’s People platform is like a game. You are the player, and so are all of your friends. If you don’t know how to get started, Google can help you with that. The platform has many features that will lead you through the process of adding yourself as a character in the game, known in Google terms as a person entity. There is no pressure. If you find this difficult, skip it for now and return to it later.
You can add an old-school Yahoo! Mail address or an AOL address if those still mean something to you! The important part is making sure that your primary account is correctly connected. Use the “add me to search” for a better outcome.
Add your Facebook account
Google can seamlessly connect with your Facebook account to get friend suggestions, photo tagging suggestions, and your name with its proper title. The process is straightforward, so make sure you have logged into your Facebook account on the browser connected to your Google account.
Add your Google+ account
Google+ is Google’s social network that has been around since the company acquired the service in 2011. It is possible to link your Google+ account to your Google account and have the two interact with each other. You need to have a Google+ account to do this, and you’ll need to sign in to your Google account in your browser.
Add your Instagram account
Instagram is one of the most popular social media platforms worldwide, with over 1 billion monthly users. It is a photo-sharing service that allows users to take pictures, apply a filter, add a caption, and share them with others. You can link your Instagram account to your Google account, which will allow your Google account to access your Instagram account.
Add your LinkedIn account
LinkedIn is one of the world’s largest business-oriented social networks, with over 500 million members in over 200 countries and territories. Its primary goal is to help you find a job and advance your career by using your network, which is why it is particularly interesting for marketing professionals. There are three ways to link your Google account with your LinkedIn account using your Google account, your Gmail account, or your phone number.
Add any other social media accounts you use (optional)
If you use any other social media platforms, you can link them to your Google account to enhance the People platform’s experience. You can add your accounts by following the same steps you followed when adding your Facebook, Google+, and Instagram accounts.
Add your phone number
If you have connected your Google account to your phone number, you can use the People platform to find out if a particular phone number is linked to a Google account. Once you have selected “Link a social account,” select your phone number. You will then be asked to verify your phone number; once you have done that, your phone number will be linked to your Google account. Once you are done, you will see your phone number listed under “Social accounts you’ve added.”
Add any email addresses you use (optional)
If you have ever signed up for an account that uses your email address as a username, there is a high chance that Google has added it to its database. At least, that is what Google assumes. If you want to ensure that Google is correctly linking your email address to your account, then you can do so by selecting “Link a social account” and the email address you want to link to your Google account. Once you are done, you will see the email under “Social accounts you’ve added.”
Make sure everything is correct and click “Save”
Now you should go through all your linked accounts to check if everything is correct. You can do that by scrolling down in the “Social accounts you’ve added” section and clicking on the “Manage” link. Once you have checked everything, and you are certain that everything is correct, click on “Save” to finish the process and be done with it.
