On 7th November, a group of women employees from Infosys Bangalore, the second largest IT service company in India has charged a case of sexual harassment against a senior executive of the company. They shoot a mail from an unidentified mail id to keep their identity secret in which it was mentioned that “We are a group of women employees working in a secretarial and compliance team of Infosys. We had filed a sexual harassment case against (name withheld). The mail was undersigned as ‘Infy Women employees’ and the email id was mentioned as ‘infywomen@outlook.com”.
Further it was added in the mail that “Even though the charges was serious, the board hasn’t taken any action and is trying to muffle the entire case”. These group of women thus urged media to help in getting justice. In the mail it was mentioned “We request you to take up this case and help get us justice”. The IT major engaged a team of external investigators who after the due diligence came into the conclusion that it was just a matter of gender insensitivity.
However, the spokesperson of Infosys completely refused to accept the allegation that has been put by women against one senior executive. According to him, “We take every sexual harassment very seriously and each case is thoroughly investigated”.
Basically, the company has further refused to divulge any further information on what kind of inquiry was conducted and what was the exact nature of complaint.
