They were once all the rage. But now? We look back and cringe. Fashion trends come and go and recent years have shown that many of them return with a vengeance. When we look back on old photos, it’s easy enough to admit, there are some fashion trends that should never make a comeback. Here are a few at the top of the list:
80s Bangs
Women (and some men) in the 80s spent countless hours teasing and hair spraying their bangs to stand on end. But today? We can’t afford another hole in the ozone layer with all the hairspray. Plus, when it rains, who has the time to deal with a hair disaster when things go flat? Those who want to look taller should simply wear heeled-shoes.

Shoulder Pads
Shoulder pads, at the height of their popularity, were meant to project an image of strength and style. They appeared in a wide range of items from everyday shirts and dresses to business wear and gowns. While they had their day in the sun, they should stay in their place – the past. And, there are plenty of modern alternatives like capped sleeve blouses and ruffles. Online boutiques for women allow you to have architectural embellishments that are timeless, unlike shoulder pads.
Overly Baggy Pants
It’s okay not to wear form-fitting clothes all the time. In fact, it’s downright comfortable and even stylish! But there are larger clothing sizes and there are huge, baggy items that sag so low everyone sees things they just shouldn’t see unless they are searching through your underwear drawer. Underwear is named as such for a reason. It is to be worn under other things, not as an item to show off when your pants sag too low.
Tiny Sunglasses
Sunglasses are practical eyewear that protect your eyes from UV rays and the overall brightness of the sun. At one time, people chose sunglasses so small they couldn’t have been doing a good job. While sunglasses can still definitely show a sense of fashion, they are practical items that need to cover your eyes properly. Therefore, they should never be as small as they once were.
You can still add personality to your look by choosing sunglasses with fashionable frames. Try on some bold colored frames or go for an angular cat eye shape.

Ultra-Low Rise Jeans
There are many different types of jean fits and most of them are acceptable. There are the boyfriend jeans, the boot cut variety, and even low cut jeans. But the ultra-low cut style almost shows things that no one needs to see. You should be able to bend over in your jeans comfortably (for you and other people).
Leg Warmers
Leg warmers came in handy during the Jazzercize rage, but we’re still not quite sure why. Were legs colder when working out back then? Did pants not work just as well, if not better? Today, and in future years, legs that need warming simply need the right cozy pants, not leg warmers. They do nothing for the style statement anyone is going for.

Stirrup Pants
Do you remember the pants that went past the ankle and wrapped around the foot? It was like wearing a belt on your foot. Sure, the pants didn’t ride up and look too short on a growing child, but they did look downright ridiculous on most, if not all, occasions. Pants have an end point. That’s all there is to it.
Trucker Hats
Baseball hats? You bet! Bring them on! They never go out of style. But the oversized trucker hats that barely sit atop the head? It’s a thing of the past that never really should have been a style in the first place. It was a trend-keyword was. Let’s leave it in the past and never look back.
Neon on Neon
Bright colors are okay in certain situations and they’ve even made a comeback here and there over the years. However, when you place one neon on another, it’s just too much for the eyes. Keep the neon limited and at a minimum and we’ll all survive the trends just fine. When shopping online at modern, trendy stores, you will quickly see the colors that are popular today.

Sweat Bands
Sweat bands are a necessity that some people utilize when they are running or working out in other ways. When used for practical reasons, they are more than okay. They should not ever be a fashion statement again. It didn’t work well the first time, so why should it come back?
Fashion trends often leave, then make a comeback later, and that’s okay with certain styles. Big sunglasses, scrunchies, high waist jeans, cycling shorts, and plenty of others have come and gone, and are back again and that’s okay. But there are some fashions that should leave and never return. Keep an eye on popular online boutiques for women and follow the right advice.
