5 Benefits of Fish for Health

Among the numerous benefits that fish has for health, the following stand out:

They protect the health of our heart

White and blue fish protect the health of our heart. Blue fish increases the levels of “good” cholesterol, lowers those of the “bad” cholesterol and therefore minimizes the risks of cardiovascular disease. The risk of women of reproductive age having heart problems is much lower in those who consume fish, especially if they are rich in omega 3, than they eat little or no fish, a study said.

The Danish research, published in the American Heart Association magazine, is the first to look specifically at the benefits of fish consumption on the immediate heart health of women aged 15 to 49, rather than the impact on their longevity. Women “who consume little or no fish have a 50% rate of cardiovascular problems in eight years compared with those who consume it regularly,” the scientists said. In general, women who eat little or no fish have a 90% higher risk of heart problems compared to those who eat fish weekly. The study was carried out with 49 thousand women with an average age of 30 years, over a period of eight years.

Nutrients for growth

Fish contains numerous proteins of high biological value because they contain all the essential amino acids that the body needs in adequate quantity and proportion. What many people are still unaware of is that fish can also provide healthier hair for men and women. As some fish are rich in vitamin A, zinc and omega 3, nutrients that prevent hair loss and hair loss, they can help maintain hair beauty. What will make hair very beautiful and healthy is a balanced diet. Furthermore, it is not all types of fish that benefit the hair. Sardines and salmon are the ones that most offer improvements to the hair, as they contain Omega 3, which is very good for the hair.

Low calories

The caloric content of fish is relatively low, making it a good option to be part of our diet. The caloric content can be increased according to the way of cooking it, but if we cook them grilled, we will obtain tasty and juicy fish without raising their caloric content.

Disease prevention

Fish contains a high vitamin content, contains different vitamins of group B such as B1, B2, B3 and B12, and vitamins A, D and, to a lesser extent, E. Vitamins A and E have antioxidant action and vitamin D promotes the absorption of calcium and phosphate.

Anti-inflammatory properties

The consumption of blue fish helps to relieve the symptoms of inflammatory diseases. Thanks to the omega-3 fatty acids in fish, anti-inflammatory substances called prostaglandins are formed.
