The big day is fast approaching. You’ve planned your wedding down to the very last detail such as flowers, food, music and favours. Now it’s time to put some focus on yourself as you get ready for your walk down the aisle. You’ve scheduled an appointment for your hair, your nails, and your makeup. But, maybe as you look in the mirror, you notice a few blemishes or dark circles under your eyes – after all, while a wedding is a joyous occasion it can also cause some stress. No need to worry!
Follow these five essential skincare practises and your skin will be simply radiant on your special day.
1. Do a Professional Facial
Those masks you buy at your favourite makeup store are great for making your face look good for Sunday brunch, but when it comes to your wedding day you want to go the extra mile. That means it’s time to call on the experts and schedule a professional facial. Deep cleanses, steam treatments, and hydrating masks may be among the many procedures you’ll receive when you schedule a professional facial. Trust your favourite aesthetician to make your face look fantastic.
2. Hydrate Your Body by Drinking Enough Water
You may be running on fumes and need some caffeine, but don’t forget to drink lots of water. The health benefits of water for the body are innumerable. And, are you aware of all that water does for your skin? In the days, weeks, or even months leading up to your wedding day, you want to make sure you are consuming plenty of it. Water helps restore the elasticity of your skin which in turn will help reduce the appearance of wrinkles. Additionally, water helps the skin stay hydrated which means less dryness. Lastly, water helps you maintain a balanced pH level which translates to healthy looking skin.
3. Change Your Regular Diet Plan
How’s your diet been as you get ready for your wedding? Lots of fruits and vegetables? Don’t let the stress of wedding plan cause you to make poor choices when it comes to your diet. When you fuel your body with some key foods, you will find your skin will thank you with a healthy appearance. Try salmon which contains Omega-3 fatty acids, sweet potatoes which contain antioxidants, tomatoes which contain Lycopene, kiwi which contains vitamin C, and avocados which contain vitamin E. All these foods are known for their positive effect on the skin.
4. Workout Regularly
Yes, you may be busy with wedding planning, but make time for some good sweat sessions. Not only can a good workout relieve some pre-wedding stress, it’s also great for your skin. When you get your blood pumping, you will fuel your cells quicker with oxygen and essential nutrients. Glowing skin and a good workout sounds like a definite win-win.
5. Use Skin-Specific Moisturiser
A good moisturiser is essential for taking care of your skin. Moisturisers provide many benefits. They can keep your skin from becoming overly dry or help to prevent oily skin. They also work to improve your skin tone and texture – which is essential for your wedding day. But, moisturisers are not a case of one-size-fits-all. You want to make sure you are using a moisturiser specific to your skin’s characteristics. Normal, dry, oily or sensitive – no matter what your skin type there a moisturiser is available for you.
Don’t let your wedding day arrive without having shown your skin some TLC. When you implement these five essential skin care practises your guests will not only be complimenting you on your gorgeous wedding gown, but on your glowing skin as well.
